Key challenges

ECT repurposes inert excavated soil from construction sites to develop land-use projects at no cost to local authorities. In the field, controlling the idle rate of its machines is a direct concern: it helps optimize productivity, machine lifespan, and the frequency of routine maintenance.

Before Hiboo alerts, ECT was already tracking its data on the platform, but with no alerting mechanism. Idle figures were consolidated in Excel files and reviewed every six months, too infrequent to act in time:

The situation was clear: out in the field, teams didn't have time to proactively log into the platform to check whether idling exceeded the tolerance threshold.

As a result, the full scale of the problem wasn't identified until the end of 2025, during the six-month review.

The Hiboo solution

To address this, ECT set up:

  • Weekly reports sent directly to site managers.
  • Monthly reports sent to the operations manager.

Rather than multiplying one-off alerts, ECT opted for a reporting rhythm tailored to each recipient, so the information stays actionable without overloading the teams.

This change made it possible to automate the delivery of information to the right recipients and to give continuous visibility over the machines whose idling exceeds the target.

Results and value

Based on a comparison between the first half of 2025 and the first half of 2026 (with comparable seasonality), across the public-works machine fleet:

  • A measurable drop in idling: -5.6 points over the period.
